Annie Baninne, Balloon Story Teller

How do I Write a Story Anyway?

Just the same as how you’d tell a story to someone out loud. You just write it down this time.
  • What do I write about?

Anything! Write about something you love. Knights in shining armor, fairies, sharks, aliens, you name it.

  • I don’t know how to start . . .

Come to one of Annie’s shows. During the show, Annie and the audience write and perform an original story. You’ll see how easy it is!

  • Where else can I learn about writing?

These people know more than you can ever imagine about writing:

    • Your teacher

    • Your school librarian

    • Your children’s librarian at your local library

    • Your parents (you’d be surprised what they know)
I wrote a story and I want to send it to Annie for the contest!

Want to tell us a story?

Want to be up on stage with Annie Banannie?

Want to win a free Balloon Storyteller show for your school?

Here’s how you do it. Write a story about anything. Absolutely anything. Then click here to send it to Annie. (You’ll need your parents’ permission and stuff.)

Tell all your friends! Annie doesn’t have to be at your school for you to enter.

Here’s a flyer for ya.

What do the winners win?
  • Your story published on Annie’s website. See the Winner’s Showcase.

What are the Rules?
  • There are two different age categories:

K through 3rd grade and 4th grade through 6th grade. There will be one winner per category per school semester (that’s 4 free shows a year!)

  • Who can enter?

Elementary school students from K through 6th grade.

  • How often?

Enter as many stories as you want.

  • When?

Enter any time you want. This contest is so popular we don’t want to stop!

  • Who are the judges?

Annie Banannie and a panel of independent judges will read all of the stories and choose the winners.
Small print:
Subject to approval by your school and your parents. You can’t win two semesters in a row (sit back and enjoy the limelight for a while). Winners will be announced after semester is over, as soon as we get school and parental permission. Stories submitted in the summer will count towards the spring semester contest. Winner’s show is one 45-minute performance of Annie’s Balloon Storyteller Adventure Show. Contest is limited to Southern California and select areas of Northern California for now. (Someday we’ll be global.)
